I have acted for these clients in relation to general employment law queries and also in high value litigation and arbitration. I have experience of advising clients that are partnerships and LLPS, including law firms and professional service firms. My client base is broad, and includes various organisations across the professional and financial services sectors as well as law firms. I am also part of the Investigations and Regulatory group, with a focus on conducting investigations for clients in respect of serious allegations of wrongdoing. I have also acted for a client in a large scale arbitration. I also frequently advise clients on high court litigation matters, usually in relation to restrictive covenants, garden leave and confidential information. I regularly assist clients with high value litigation, often involving complex and sensitive discrimination claims and sometimes involving cross-border issues. I advise employers on the whole range of general employment issues (such as reviewing policies, advising on terminations and restructurings, and responding to tribunal claims). I have spent my entire legal career with Lewis Silkin, from paralegal to trainee to associate.

It's a near miss and once a furious Knox has managed to pull his demon back into line there's only one thing clear - someone knows Harper's secrets and is systematically setting out to destroy her. Worse still, the attackers are trying to take her wings - the ones no one is meant to know she even has. They're looking forward to some well-earned downtime - until Harper is attacked by mercenaries in the middle of her tattoo shop. Together, Harper and Knox have overcome just about every evil thing you can think of - from Horsemen of the Apocalypse to dark magic practitioners to Lucifer's insistent belief that he's hilarious. Knox and Harper's story continues as the Las Vegas lair - and its two infamous Co-Primes - face their most terrifying enemy yet. This has been demonstrated in neuroscientific terms over the last four decades by the identification of the role of ‘place cells’ within the hippocampus of the brain linked to the subjective ‘sense of place’, in part linked to the creation of personal memory, while the significance of Lieux de mémoire in French historiography provides an endorsement of what many of us already feel. Those memories which shape us, as so many studies have shown, are shaped by place, and the places themselves are shaped by memory. That statement may be a truism, but there are few places better than a Festschrift where one can get away with starting a paper in such a manner. We are shaped by our memories and by others’ memories of us. Overall, I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to children and story-time librarians. Some of the rhyming text felt too forced, but in humorous scenes in which the bats take to the photocopier and the water fountain, the rhymes shine. These scenes show the how books and reading can inspire the imagination, and the connection between this book to other pieces of literature could allow for recognition of allusions and discovery of new books for a young (or in this case, older) reader. I especially liked the pages in which the bats imagine themselves as the characters of classic stories like Little Red Riding Hood, T he Wizard of Oz, and the legend of King Arthur. Instead, there’s an air of mystery, imagination, and fun secrecy to the images. Brian Lies’ illustrations, despite the darkness (since it does take place at night), are not gloomy. Impression: I rarely take the opportunity to read children’s books despite my fondness for books meant for young readers, but I can’t resist reading anything that takes place in a library or has “library” in the title. Summary: As the saying goes, when the cats away, the mice will play, but when a library’s window is left open, the bats will take it as an … invitation? Written in rhyme, this amusing children’s book written and illustrated by Brian Lies shows a colony of bats enjoying a night with books, games, and storytelling in the library. |
